Rob Rutterford has taught all ages of children and adults in Suffolk for over 28 years, at the same time he has produced a range of Stoneware and Raku ceramics for gardens and domestic use. Hand built individual pieces ideas inspired from the coast, local historical and ethnical reference, plants and their structures.
'I work directly into the clay having surrounded myself with lots of reference, sketches, photographic media and found objects. There is something about the process of making in itself, call it therapy or resolving through doing. I like to respond to the environment in which I am exhibiting and often reflect something of the area in my work.'
Rob is a founder member of ASAT and was involved in the first set up of art teacher degree courses at Belstead House now Anglian Ruskin.
